As the highest scorer and earner ever in NBA history, LeBron James owns some pretty cool stuff.
Think an insane and expensive watch collection, and a whole fleet of supercars as just some of the way the he spends his billions.
But one of his supercars is rarer than all the others: the Porsche 918 Spyder.
The coveted and cool, the hybrid-powered supercar, has a 4.6-litre V8 engine that makes 607 bhp and 528 Nm of peak torque.
With one electric motor located at the front axle and a second at the rear, its 279 bhp output is pretty impressive.
Made almost exclusively of titanium and aluminium the engines just 135kg.
It was described by Frank-Steffen Walliser who led the project as “the best engine we have ever done”.
Reaching a top speed of up to 344 km/h (215 mph), while clocking 0-100 km/h / 0-62 mph in just 2.6 seconds.
The 918 Spyder has removable roof panels rather than a regular fixed roof.
These can then be stored in the front luggage compartment.
This enables drivers to fully appreciate the contrast between electric running and the switch to the power of the 4.6-litre V8 petrol engine.
And while there are some strange things that boost the price of a Porsche, it’s the rarity of this EV that boots its worth.
Wittily, just 918 were made – and subsequently sold out at record speed.
That means it’s considered “a slice of automotive history”.
According to the brand the car was “precision-built by hand by around 100 staff at a fabrication facility that was specially constructed for the purpose”.
Assembly apparently took “around 100 hours” for each car – a level of dedication that again will cost.
At the time of its launch in 2014, prices began at €768,026 in Germany.
Today you can expect to pay six figures plus – roughly $845,000 – for this modern-day Porsche icon.
