This tiny 20-day-old pet was discovered abandoned and frail, lying atop a hill in Chanis, Panama.
Her delicate body bore numerous wounds and was infested with flies, lice, and fleas.
When discovered, she was in a critical condition, barely moving, breathing sporadically, and keeping her eyes shut most of the time.
She spent the entire day under the care of Veterinary Paws & Footprints of Chanis, where she was closely monitored every two hours.
Weighing a mere 0.66 kg (1.45 lbs), this little one required a series of injectable medications every few hours.
A second blood transfusion became necessary because she was unable to consume food, causing her blood sugar to drop once more. It’s heart-wrenching, especially for such a tiny creature.
Hearing her “cry” at night is truly heartrending.
Despite receiving ample nutrition, her anemia did not improve, and the veterinarian recommended a few more blood transfusions.
Even after these transfusions, her hematocrit level remained unchanged, indicating that her body was not naturally regenerating.
With the next day’s transfusion, her hemoglobin level increased from 3.0 to 4.5, resulting in much better test results. Her hematocrit rose from 12 to 16, and her platelet count increased from 28 to 84, allowing Baby Amor to be discharged from the hospital.
After two days in their care, Baby Amor is showing signs of improvement. She has stopped crying at night and has become more tranquil. However, she is still being closely observed and monitored at the hospital every morning.
In the afternoons, she starts to engage with their volunteers, which helps her feel loved and improves her mental well-being.
One week later, Amor began to eat small portions of Proplan canned puppy food, and her appetite increased. She also receives water and malt extract, a high-iron food supplement, every two hours.
Her heart proves to be stronger than her fragile body. As her wounds begin to heal, the bandages become itchy.
This young fighter persists despite all odds, conquering challenges and continuing to stand, imploring life for a second chance.
