This week, the redesigned Sorento SUV makes its premiere at the LA Auto Show.
A moderate size hybrid with off-road tires? Goodness better believe it, we love to see it. Also, by “we” I intend to actually say “you”, and by “you” I want to actually say “Americans who purchase new vehicles”. You folks appear to adore these things, as confirmed by their expansion across the vehicle business.
The most recent husky gleam up comes from Kia and the Sorento X-Ace, which debuts at the Los Angeles car exhibition this week. BF Goodrich off-road tires wrapping 17-inch wheels are standard on this SUV, and Kia says the Sorento X-Master can tow 4,000 pounds – a little knock over different models.
X-Ace not your jam? Perhaps you’d lean toward the Sorento X-Line. This one’s only to look good, with a special grille, 20-inch wheels, rooftop rack, and every one of the essential insignias. What’s more, obviously, non-X-evaluated renditions of the Sorento will be offered, as well, highlighting a sweet new face that is now appeared in Kia’s home market of South Korea.
Concerning what’s in the engine, the base Sorento LX and S manages accompany a 2.5-liter inline-4 with 191hp and 181lb ft of force, as well as a 8-speed programmed transmission. Each other Sorento gets a punchier 2.5-liter super I4 with 281hp, 311lb ft, and a 8-speed DCT gearbox. This is the equivalent powertrain Hyundai/Kia involves in different models like the St Nick Cruz pickup, and it’s perfect.
In search of hybrid power? Kia will still sell electric Sorentos, though perhaps not for long. According to a statement from Kia, the Sorento Hybrid and Sorento Plug-In Hybrid “are anticipated to hit dealerships later next year as 2025 models”. Early in 2024, pricing and fuel efficiency information for the non-hybrid models should become available.
