Online, some intriguing photos containing the experiences of Admiral Richard E. Byrd, an aviator who was said to have amazing talent for planning successful antarctic trips, have surfaced. The photos were discovered within an old, lost book.

In addition to using his expertise to find his way across these difficult-to-reach areas at the time, he is credited for finding Mount Sidley.
