Lancia’s return to relevance starts with its all-new Ypsilon supermini, which has been teased with shadowy and up-close images. The brand has confirmed that the new model will launch in February 2024.
The second of two teasers shows off the front end of the new car, which is heavily inspired by the radical Pu+Ra HPE Concept shown off in 2023. The Ypsilon’s lighting signature, for example, is a direct carryover. Unfortunately for Lancia, according to Le Nouvel Automobiliste, it also seems a prototype of the car has been spotted subject after what looks like a waterlogged mishap.
Luca Napolitano, brand CEO of Lancia, says that front end motif will extend to ‘all three new models of the brand,’ which also means the upcoming Delta and Aurelia planned over the next few years. We’ve uncovered Lancia’s electric plans over the next few years, which you can read about right here.
Given the Ypsilon’s supermini shape, it’s a given that it’ll run on the Stellantis CMP platform, meaning the option of versions with engines as well as battery-electric options. So much so that the brand has already confirmed a ‘Cassina’ limited edition (shown via the other of the two teasers so far, pictured above) that will be battery-electric. The Ypsilon, then, will feature mild hybrid three cylinder engines and a 154bhp electric model with a range of around 250 miles.
We’ll update this story with more information to come.
