“Not long ago in St. Louis, Missouri, a commuter spotted a small black-and-white dog dozing at a bus stop. As he approached, his concern grew when he realized the dog couldn’t stand up and was in distress due to the rising temperatures. Without hesitation, he decided to rescue her. He carried her to his home and reached out to Stray Rescue of St. Louis for assistance. Donna Lochmann, the organization’s Chief Life-Saving Officer, was amazed at the dog’s condition upon arrival.
The dog, later named She-Ra, was not just thin; she was emaciated. She lay on a small blanket, unable to stand, but her tail wagged when Lochmann approached. She-Ra’s condition hinted at a tough start in life, likely confined to a small crate without proper care and nourishment.
Thankfully, Stray Rescue of St. Louis took immediate action. She-Ra received medical attention, baths, and started a refeeding schedule, with multiple small meals to help her body adjust to nourishment again. Her gradual recovery began, and she regained her strength, learning to stand and move independently. She moved on to a regular feeding schedule, grew stronger, and soon found a loving foster family.
She-Ra thrived in her foster home, enjoying the company of dogs, cats, a monkey, and a bird. However, she longed for a forever family. A perfect adoption application arrived, and a loving family welcomed her into their home with open arms. She-Ra’s joy was evident as she greeted her new family.
Since joining her forever family, She-Ra’s life has been a series of exciting adventures and boundless love. Her resilience and zest for life are awe-inspiring, showing how far she’s come from her challenging past. She-Ra’s journey may have started with adversity, but her story now radiates positivity, proving that with love and care, transformation is possible.
Donna Lochmann summarized it perfectly: “Ultimately, She-Ra’s story has a positive conclusion. Despite starting out with nothing, she’s now a content canine.” 🐾❤️ #RescueDog #HappyTails #UnconditionalLove”
