Rescuers Uncover Injured Hunting Dog Abandoned in Field and Vow to Save Her
Discovering a dog in distress is always heart-wrenching, knowing they are innocent beings facing hardships not of their own making. This unfortunate reality befell a dog found in the countryside by members of the Diasozo Animal Rescue Team in Karditsa, Greece.
The dog, named Lydia, was in deplorable condition when discovered in a field, bearing multiple injuries. Thankfully, the rescue team promptly intervened to provide the care and assistance she urgently needed.
Upon arriving at the scene, Lydia was found alone in the field, visibly frail, with a significant festering wound on her back requiring immediate medical attention. The villagers, concerned for her well-being, contacted the rescue team, prompting a swift response.
With great care, the rescue team transported Lydia to a nearby clinic, ensuring she was handled gently to avoid exacerbating her injuries. Covered in a blanket, Lydia was placed in a cage in the back of the truck, prioritizing her safety during the journey to the veterinarian.
Upon reaching the veterinary clinic, Lydia, despite her injuries, displayed signs of joy and enthusiasm when released from her cage. Despite limping, she eagerly walked to the examination table, where her injuries were thoroughly assessed.
The examination revealed not only the large wound on her neck but also a smaller one on her injured leg, where the bone had broken through. Lydia received the necessary medical treatment, gradually improving with each passing day. Although she continued to limp, her overall energy levels significantly increased.
To complete her recovery, Lydia was transported to a foster home before finding a new, loving permanent home. For more updates and information about DAR Animal Rescue, you can visit the organization’s Facebook page.
