‘Unicorn Dog’ who endured a difficult life and was scheduled to be authentic was adopted by a loving family and became the sweetest dog ever
Strawberry, the 2-year-old pit bull nicknamed “the unicorn dog,” has finally found a loving home in South Pasadena after being passed from shelter to shelter and nearly dying , partly due to being hit in the head.
The dog appeared to have fallen on hard times when he was rescued by the La Belle Foundation in Los Angeles.
“This little dog has been through some tough times and has bounced back,” the rescue organization said in a social media post. “He had terrible scratches on his swollen face and glittering eyes, not to mention two giant bumps on his lovely head.”
Before that, Shelters thought the lump on her head was a tumor and wanted to put her down. But tests showed it was scar tissue from an old wound and was not life-threatening.
When Strawberry was fully recovered and ready to be adopted, the Kuhlman family of South Pasadena saw her online and “couldn’t resist.”
“There was something that spoke to me about her,” said Kristen Kuhlman, the family matriarch. “She couldn’t find a home for quite a long time. We wait and think about it. And we continue to see it on the site.”
The family, who had just overcome the pain of losing a 15-year-old dog, decided to bring Strawberry home and shower her with love and affection.
“She was a good smuggler,” Claire Kuhlman, Kristen’s twin daughter, said with a laugh. “She will lie on top of you. “She is muscular and big.”
Kuhlmans said it was inconceivable that the gentle, charming dog would almost die.
“We really wondered how the tumor got there,” said Jack Kuhlman, the family’s twin son. “I think that’s another reason why it took her so long to get adopted.”
The puppy was nicknamed “Strawberry” and the family decided to keep him because it seemed appropriate.
“”“It’s cute. It has a lot of syllables, which is why we sometimes call it ‘Straw,’” explained Jeff Kuhlman, the patriarch. “We found a strap with strawberries on it. “Everything seems to have worked out.”
The children said the first thing they did after coming home from school was play with Strawberry and hug their new dog.
According to the family, Strawberry the unicorn dog also has some fans in the neighborhood, as the puppy is quite recognizable thanks to the unique lump on his head.
“People will roll down their windows and say, ‘Hey, strawberries,’” explains Kristen Kuhlman. “A lot of people loved her very much.”
