Texas Longhorns defensive back Wardell Mack has been arrested and booked into the Travis County jail Wednesday on a charge of driving while intoxicated, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. The 19-year-old has been charged with driving while intoxicated, which is a Class B misdemeanor. Mack’s bond is set at $3,000. In a statement, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian says the situation is being monitored. “We will continue to monitor the legal process, and the situation will be handled internally at the appropriate time,” Sarkisian said in a statement through a UT spokesperson. The Louisiana native, who is in his second year at Texas, appeared in four games in 2024 before redshirting. Mack intercepted a pass in his first college football game last season against Colorado State. The redshirt freshman did not play in Saturday’s 14-7 loss to Ohio State. The four-star out of John Ehert High School near New Orleans, initially committed to Florida but flipped his commitment to Texas. Looking for a free mini puzzle? Play the USA TODAY Quick Cross now. In a statement to KXAN, Mack’s attorney Logan Campbell declined to comment. “Due to the pending nature of the case, we have no comment at this time,” Campbell said.
