Highlights include a rare 1987 Ferrari Testarossa and a sleek red 2005 Ford GT.
George Foreman is prepared to give up his collection of exotic cars.
The two-time world heavyweight champion, who has made a name for himself as a collector, has made the decision to put more than fifty of his most valuable rides up for auction in December on Hagerty Marketplace.
Foreman released a statement saying, “I have spent most of my life collecting and being an enthusiast for cars, but now is the time for me to share my cars with other like-minded enthusiasts.”
Foreman is still among the most decorated and senior boxers in history. He’s also among the wealthiest, having amassed a $300 million fortune from the sales of his name-brand countertop grill. He has used a good portion of that money to amass an extremely amazing collection of cars.
The cars available cover almost every production decade, starting in the 1930s and ending in the present day. (The oldest is a vintage 1931 Ford Model A Cabriolet A400 that came off the assembly line.) The four-wheelers come from a range of manufacturers as well, including Bentley, Rolls-Royce, BMW, Ferrari, and Porsche, to mention a few.
Foreman’s 2005 Ford GT, which he has owned since new, is in the lead. The stunning vehicle has an Ebony Black leather interior and a Mark IV Red exterior with white racing stripes. It also has lightweight aluminum BBS wheels, a McIntosh stereo system, and painted brake calipers. Most notably, the immaculate vehicle shows less than 790 kilometers on the dial.
Another standout is the 2000 BMW Z8 owned by a single person. One of the rarest color combinations available from the German brand is displayed on the four-wheeler. It is, in fact, one of only 37 with the Topaz Blue Metallic interior over the Crema and Black. Two other noteworthy lots are a 1987 Ferrari Testarossa and a 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena.
Foreman continues, “The best way to make sure they get the attention they deserve is to be able to offer them to the more than million-strong Hagerty audience.”
Foreman’s collection has been kept in long-term static storage, as one might anticipate. Before being driven, the automobiles will also undergo mechanical maintenance to make sure everything is in working order.
Kenneth Ahn, President of Hagerty Marketplace, expects high demand and competitive bidding for the vehicles. Between December 11 and December 21, the corresponding sales will conclude, with many lots closing each workday. That takes care of your Christmas shopping, then.
