Every Exciting New Arrival at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show

Much of it was overshadowed by a new Toyota Camry, but there was still plenty to like.

Car expos are back, child! Indeed, not actually, yet the 2023 L.A. car exhibition demonstrated more fascinating than latest models — we’re taking a gander at you, miserable sack Detroit car expo — while perhaps not as stacked with stunning presentations like last month’s Japan Portability Show, previously known as the Tokyo Engine Show. Anything that the amazingness level of this show, there were a few new vehicle and SUV uncovers deserving of your consideration in L.A.. You can look at them underneath:

2025 Genesis GV80 And GV80 Coupe

001 2024 Genesis GV80 Coupe

The 2025 Genesis GV80 luxury SUV may not have many new features at first glance, but the Coupe model—a sleeker, more svelte variant of the more upright, conventionally styled GV80—should be easy to spot. With a twin-turbocharged and electric-supercharged V-6 engine that isn’t available on the standard GV80 and the necessary fastback roofline to compete with coupe-SUVs like Mercedes-Benz’s GLE Coupe and BMW’s X6, Genesis adds even more unique touches to the GV80 Coupe. The remaining GV80 updates are discussed here.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

001 2025 Hyundai Ioniq5 N

Although Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N has been seen previously, this is the first time it has been shown at an American auto show. But Hyundai didn’t just take the hood off a vehicle we had already seen; it also revealed a ton of brand-new information about features and specifications unique to the American market that will be available on this electric hot hatchback (well, SUV) when it goes on sale in 2019. All of the updated Ioniq 5 N specifications are available here.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe

009 2024 Hyundai SantaFe XRT

Not just the Ioniq 5 N is a new Hyundai making its second appearance in Los Angeles, but its first in the United States. Like with the Ioniq, Hyundai show-cased a ton of market-specific details and specs for the all-new Santa Fe SUV during the event, including a first look at the new XRT off-road option (shown). With its incredibly stylish three-row crossover, Hyundai might become the next big SUV success story, similar to what its corporate sibling Kia did recently with the larger Telluride.

2024 Kia Sorento X-Pro

Alright, so it’s obvious that the L.A. show gave Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis—all under the same corporate umbrella—a platform to present several previously displayed international products to Americans for the first time in person. In addition, the updated Kia Sorento made its North American premiere here. However, there was a genuine first revelation that emerged: The larger Telluride X-Pro unveiled last year will be followed in the footsteps of the new 2024 Kia Sorento X-Pro, an off-road variant with larger tires and raised suspension.

2025 Lucid Gravity SUV

001 2024 Lucid Gravity

Two years ago, our Car of the Year judges were wowed by Lucid’s ground-breaking Air sedan, which reset expectations for the driving range that electric vehicles could provide. Its remarkable efficiency and ingenious engineering were complemented by its attractive appearance, technology, and packaging. Even still, the Air is still only a four-door sedan, and Lucid would be better off breaking into the American auto market with an SUV that is more likely to be purchased. Presenting the Gravity, a taller, more marketed Lucid that combines Air technology with greater usefulness. More than 440 miles of range and rapid charging times are guaranteed by Lucid.

2025 Subaru Forester

001 2024 Subaru Forester

Even though the Subaru Forester may go unnoticed in America’s car scene, there are many devoted owners of this right-sized, two-row SUV. The all-new Forester for 2025 maintains the characteristics that its aficionados adore, including its large glass area, control-tower view, elevated seating height, and functionally boxy design, and it lathers on more elegance than any previous Forester has ever worn. It’s arguable whether or not that style is appealing, but like other Subarus, it’s purposefully… strange, but this is a cautious, fruitful evolution for the Forester.

2025 Toyota Crown Signia

The unconventional Toyota Crown sedan, which resembles a sort of elevated four-door, three-box crossover, is joined by the Crown Signia, a real, normally shaped SUV. Similar to the Crown sedan, this premium two-row crossover is exclusively available as a hybrid. This smaller car, sized more like a RAV4-plus than an RX from Lexus, will take the place of Toyota’s recently revived, hybrid-only Venza in the range.

2025 Toyota Camry

001 2024 Toyota Camry HSE

The newest Toyota Camry was the star of the L.A. show, if there was one this year. Even though the number of cars on the road is decreasing, midsize sedans are still very profitable for Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia—the only other automakers still in business. This makes the revised Camry a pretty big deal. The new four-door had its public debut on the exhibition floor, despite the fact that it officially debuted at an off-site event shortly before the actual auto show.

MotorTrend’s 2024 Car Of The Year

We also made our debut at the L.A. show, when we presented the new Toyota Prius hybrid and Prius Prime plug-in hybrid with our 2024 Car of the Year award. Not to brag. Every year, we reveal our decision for Car of the Year at or near the Los Angeles show, and we were thrilled to name the completely revamped Prius as our winner. With its really alluring appearance, agile handling, and—get this—satisfying power, this Prius is unlike any other that has come before it. Yes, it’s the fastest Prius yet, but it’s also the most efficient.
