BREAKING NEWS: Thank you! Dolly Parton recently shared how proud she is to have used the royalties from her song “I Will Always Love You” to support the Black community. Dolly revealed that the best thing she ever bought with the money from Whitney Houston’s version of the song was an office complex in Nashville. At first Dolly wrote and recorded the song in 1973 as a farewell to her former partner, Porter Wagoner, but Whitney’s version became a global hit. Dolly chose to invest in a neighborhood that was mostly home to Black families, away from the bustling parts of the city. “I thought, ‘This is a wonderful place for me to be,’” she said. “I bought the whole strip mall and felt it was the perfect place, especially since it was Whitney’s people.” She added, “I’m so happy I spent that money on this complex. I love saying, ‘This is the house that Whitney built.’” Dolly’s decision shows her deep admiration and love for Whitney and the community. Let’s send some love to Dolly!
