Jalen Hurts isn’t someone whom you can find synonymous with getting fined in the NFL. He often takes the gridiron, runs his plays, finds teammates, and allows his performance to speak on his behalf. Now, it seems like Hurts made a small mistake against the Steelers that didn’t go down well under the NFL’s rules and regulations.
As per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the league has docked Hurts $5,628 for going against their uniform and equipment protocols. Hurts didn’t wear boots that fall within the Eagles’ “Constitutional team colors.” Now, the rule book explains, “A player may wear shoes that are black, white or any Constitutional team color, or any combination of black, white, and a Constitutional team color.”
However, Hurts was found wearing a dark green shoe on his right while having a light green on his left. When Hurts was asked whether he would go again with those same shoes, the Eagles QB was like, “We’ll see.” He had no other option but to wear those shoes because the pair he wanted didn’t arrive in time. Well, don’t be surprised if we say that this isn’t the first time that Hurts has faced problems with his cleats this season.
After getting heavily scrutinized because of regressing the Eagles’ offense through a lack of passing attempts. Hurts has probably turned his haters into his biggest lovers. Leading the Eagles to their record 10th straight win this season, Hurts showed what he is truly capable of. He threw 2 TDs while producing 290 yards to shush his critics. They were all onto him after he didn’t manage to record over 200 yards for 3 straight games. Although the Eagles’ results haven’t been compromised, Hurts’ abilities were surely questioned.
This led to the Eagles QB giving a befitting reply after the Steelers win, “Scrunity is never-ending. It’s nothing new. That’s something that I find a thrill in. I appreciate being told I can’t and that we can’t. I know that I lead this team, and it takes a lot out of it. It demands a lot out of you.” Now, there were also a few questions raised about the relationship of Hurts and AJ Brown before the Steelers game. It came on the back of a ‘passing’ comment Brown made in the media, probably objecting to Hurts’ lack of passing yards.
So when Brown finished his day with 8 receptions for 110 yards and 1 TD. He also cleared the air on possible rifts within the squad, “That was our moment to tell everybody to shut up.” Now, the Eagles have the Commanders to worry about. Their win over the Saints last week stopped them from wrapping up the NFC East title. However, a win on Sunday in Washington will confirm the Eagles as the NFC East Champions.
