French bulldogs are often counted among the so-called ‘companion breeds,’ seeking constant closeness with their owners. They are known for their sweetness and make exceptional companions. Babies, it seems, are no exception to this rule. The fusion of babies and puppies, each offering unconditional love, results in a heartwarming symphony of cuteness. This is precisely the story of little Dilan and his family’s French Bulldog pup, Farley, who share a unique bond, not just as friends but as birthday buddies.
Ivette Ivens, a mother and photographer based in Chicago, has been a firsthand witness to the extraordinary connection between her son Dilan and Farley, who were born on the exact same day. These inseparable companions do everything together – from bath time to mealtime and even nap time. Ivette, Dilan’s mother, has been chronicling their special relationship through a series of photographs.
Originally from Radviliskis, Lithuania, and now residing in Chicago, Ivette shares, “Farley is always around us, and he follows Dilan everywhere. Farley patiently plays with him and tries not to snore while they both nap. It’s honestly the most loving connection – pure, unconditional, irreplaceable, and inseparable. I’m pretty sure Dilan thinks they’re both the same species, as they walk at the same level and are both going through the stage of chewing on everything. My little Dilan is a chilled-out baby and he’s always happy, but for some reason, Farley really cracks him up. I love seeing them together.”
Dilan and Farley’s story is further enriched by the fact that they share the same birthday. Since Farley became part of the family five months ago, they’ve spent every moment side by side.
Ivette reflects, “I’m constantly looking at all kinds of animals on the internet, wishfully thinking all of them could be mine one day. I saw Farley’s birth date and just knew it’s meant to be. Farley helps me a lot, actually. He cleans up Dilan’s mess after he eats and always licks Dilan’s neck if he is crying, so he starts laughing out loud. It’s pretty cute. Farley is very gentle and clumsy at times – we have to remember he is still only a baby, too. I just take these photographs during random parts of the day. There’s no need for another inspiration or idea when you see this out-of-control cuteness happening 24/7.”
Their story is an ode to pure love, boundless friendship, and the unspoken connection between a child and his four-legged, furry friend. It’s a testament to the magic that happens when a boy and his bulldog grow up together, sharing their lives, laughter, and unending love.
