Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian was one of the lucky ones to get their hands on the first Tesla Cybertrucks delivered. He is now driving the vehicle on a daily basis. But his wife Serena Williams might not be able to ride in it because she’s under contract with Lincoln.
23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams has been under contract with Lincoln for the past five years as a Brand Ambassador, after her previous stint with Aston Martin. She filmed her latest advert for the Navigator SUV this past summer. According to the contract, like all brand ambassadors, she can use only Lincoln vehicles for official outings.
Alexis Ohanian took his brand-new Tesla Cybertruck to the Art Basel in Miami. Those who spotted his electric pickup truck took to former Twitter/current X, and Alexis confirmed his presence in Miami by re-sharing the tweet that reads “Damn, she’s a badass. Temporary tags with a cool ‘LA’ decals.” “It was,” Alexis captioned the tweet.
The Reddit co-founder drives the Cybertruck VIN 003, a detail that he confirmed while driving it back home on December 1, a day after having his vehicle handed over during the event at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. “It’s smooth, drives a lot like my Model X, it smells nice,” he says. Everything seems right except for the fact that his head is very close to some bar in the headliner. Ohanian is 6’5” (1.97 meters).
After five days with the Cybertruck, the 40-year old uploaded a video about his experience at the factory and shared his impressions on his brand-new EV, which he calls “very futuristic.”
He is one of the ten who got the early delivery. He was called by someone from Tesla asking him if he wanted to receive his truck sooner than he was actually expecting it. His vehicle might as well be the Foundation Series variant, which customers allegedly received for $120,000.
According to Tesla, this limited edition is fully optioned. It is a tri-motor variant with premium equipment and Full Self-Driving capability, among others.
Back in November 2019, when Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck, the entry-level version started at $39,900. Four years and infinite production delays later, it kicks off at $60,990.
Jay Leno has also been spotted driving a Tesla Cybertruck with VIN 005. He said, though, that it did not belong to him, but to a friend, and we tend to believe him. Jay Leno was nowhere in sight at the event on November 30.
Tesla’s chief designer, Franz von Holzhausen, owns Cybertruck VIN 002. Days before the event at the Giga Texas, he was spotted driving a Stealth Matte Black Cybertruck while leaving a cars and coffee’ meeting.
