The Star Wars actor bought the sports car in 2020 and it’s up for auction.

The force is strong with this Porsche.

A 1972 911 Targa belonging to none other than (younger) Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor, is currently up for bid on Bring a Trailer. The sports car is a true beauty and is likely to cost a lot less than a land speeder.

If you’ve watched the Long Way Round docuseries and its sequels, in which McGregor and pal Charley Boorman ride motorcycles around the world, you know the actor is a serious gearhead and connoisseur of vintage vehicles. “I love driving old stuff,” he told Top Gear in 2022. In that same interview, he mentioned a number of old rides that he’s owned over the years, including a 1927 Buick Sedan, 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II, and his 911T.

“I love driving that car,” he told the website.

Despite this, it would seem McGregor’s decided to sell the Porsche (he owned a few over the years, so we imagine he can stand to part with one). The actor purchased the car in 2020 after it had spent a few decades in storage, according to Car and Driver. It’s finished in black and looks just as it would have back in the ‘70s, with one key exception—it has a fixed glass rear window instead of the zip-out plastic window found in other early 911 Targas. Inside, you’ll find that both bucket seats have checkered Pepita inserts and that the dashboard has been equipped with a Porsche Classic radio. The modern-day system includes a digital display, USB and Aux ports, and is Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth compatible. Rounding things out is a set of 15-inch alloy Fuchs wheels.

McGregor’s 911 Targa is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-six. The naturally aspirated mill can produce 130 hp, which is all sent to the rear wheels by a five-speed manual gearbox. The car has 38,000 miles on the odometer, only 2,000 of which have been put on by the star. Service records accompanying the car suggest that McGregor put in the money to keep the car maintained since he acquired it.

If you’re in the market for a retro 911 with a famous pedigree, you have until Monday, Dec. 18. As of press time, bidding has reached $85,000, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it climb before the auction ends.
