Sad Note Attached to Dog’s Sled: “Over ten years old, can no longer walk” is left behind by the man.

Abandoned and Alone: Perry, the Pyrenees, Finds Hope After Heartbreaking Desertion

Strapped to a sled and left immobile, Perry, a Pyrenees, was abandoned overnight outside the Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association in Cazenovia, New York. His only company was a cup of water and a note stating, ‘Over 10 years old – I’m not able to walk.’

Rescuers discovered Perry in a state of fear and heartbreak. Despondent and seemingly having given up on life, the elderly dog was unable to move.

Now, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the shelter, Perry is walking and in better spirits. The shelter provided him with physiotherapy and laser treatments, addressing not only his emotional trauma but also a severe skin illness and two forms of Lyme disease. Perry’s matted fur, hindering his movement, was a result of neglect.

Once a shadow of himself, Perry is now happier and more mobile. His photo on the shelter’s website garnered hundreds of supportive messages from people across the country. The shelter emphasizes the importance of seeking assistance if unable to care for a pet, discouraging abandonment as an option.

Currently under the care of his physiotherapist in foster care, Perry is on the path to recovery and may find a permanent, loving home.

Meanwhile, Perry’s former owner, a 60-year-old man, has been apprehended and charged with failure to provide veterinary treatment.
