Yesterday morning at 11:20 a.m. (April 7), a fire erupted in a two-story house and quickly spread to neighboring houses in Flatbush, Brooklyn, USA. Firefighters en route to the scene received reports of children trapped inside the fire. Despite the thick smoke from the intense fire, firefighters courageously entered to rescue and evacuate people. Once rescued, a dog was promptly provided with oxygen.
In addition to saving people and children, one firefighter went above and beyond by rescuing a dog from the fire. Frankie discovered Mickey, the dog, shivering in a corner of the house. Without hesitation, he brought the dog to safety and swiftly placed an oxygen mask on the little canine. “Mickey must be very hungry because I found Mickey in the kitchen,” Frankie shared with the press.
The most elated individual upon Mickey’s rescue from the fire was his 9-year-old owner, Bella. Overwhelmed with emotion, Bella hugged her 3-month-old puppy, a gift she received last Easter. “Your aunt said we don’t have time to bring Mickey, and we have to get out of here at once. I’m scared because I know Mickey is still inside the fire,” she said tearfully, holding the little dog in her arms. Bella’s cousin, also present, expressed gratitude, saying, “I was so worried about Mickey. I thought it couldn’t survive. I’m so grateful that Uncle Frankie was able to get Mickey out, safe and healthy.”
Mickey was embraced by his family as soon as he was rescued from the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in this fire, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause. Mickey, the lucky dog, survived the fire and was joyfully reunited with his family thanks to the heroic efforts of Uncle Frankie.
