  4. The Detroit Lions didnā€™t waste a single moment after losing Brian Branch for the season ā€” and their response immediately sent shockwaves across the NFL. Detroit has officially signed Damontae Kazee, the veteran safety with 17 career interceptions who once led the entire league with seven picks in a single season. With Branch ruled out, Kerby Joseph still sidelined, and Thomas Harper in concussion protocol, the Lions desperately needed help right now. And this move isnā€™t just about patching holes ā€” Detroit fully intends to elevate Kazee to the active roster as soon as heā€™s ready. Make no mistake: This is not a depth signing. This is a strategic power play. The Lions are fighting to stay alive in the NFC playoff race, and their secondary has been pushed to the breaking point. Adding a proven ball hawk like Kazee is a calculated swing at stabilizing the unit ā€” and potentially transforming it. If Kazee can recapture even a spark of the playmaking instincts that once made him one of the NFLā€™s most dangerous turnover creators, the Lions may have just pulled off one of the most impactful midseason moves of the year.
